Utilities will be
routed in the area adjacent to the WVU Health
Sciences Center North Building. "After reviewing numerous proposals, the Health Sciences Center Infrastructure and Master Plan Steering Committees determined that Brinjac Engineering's credentials, capabilities and overall approach were ideally suited for accomplishing WVU's project objectives," Robert Carubia, assistant vice president of West Virginia University Sciences Center facilities, said. "The Committees were most impressed with the firm's closely integrated engineering disciplines that offer superb overall project coordination." Brinjac Engineering will provide a variety of engineering support services, including steam, electric, domestic/fire water, chilled water, sanitary sewers and telecommunications systems for the planned building projects. Specific infrastructure upgrades include a new high-pressure steam service and domestic water main and fire service. Also, Brinjac will upgrade the electrical main distribution system, integrate additional chilled water capacity and distribution, and provide site drainage and storm water accommodations. Studies are also planned to determine the capacity of the existing sanitary system. Currently, the two-million-square-foot Health Sciences Center contains nine buildings including two hospitals; numerous clinics; research facilities; the schools of medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, nursing and related professions; an overnight family residential facility; and a day care center. The facility expansion project will add five buildings and more than 500,000 square feet to the complex, including a Neuroscience Center, a library addition to the medical school, an operating room suite and critical care unit addition to the Ruby Memorial Hospital, a cancer treatment center and an addition to the outpatient clinic. Future plans include a new research facility. Comprised of approximately 150 acres located in the Evansdale area of Morgantown, West Virginia, the WVU Health Sciences Center provides comprehensive health care and related medical education for the citizens of the State of West Virginia. Engineering a better future since 1955, Brinjac Engineering services clients across the state through its fully staffed offices in Harrisburg, Philadelphia, Lehigh Valley and Williamsport.
